A Working Pro. A Real Educator. Both on Purpose.

Maroon 5 John Legend Counting Crows Portlandia Nashville Producer & Songwriter

Chris Merrill built his career in Nashville — writing, producing, and sharing stages with Maroon 5, John Legend, Counting Crows, and plenty of other names you’d recognize. His credits include appearances on Portlandia and studio work most musicians never get close to. He still writes and produces professionally today.

In 2014 he moved to Camas to build a family and a music school that met his standards. Perfect Harmony started in his family room and grew into the premier studio in Camas and Washougal — not a side-hustle, not a retirement project. Chris hand-picks and trains every instructor here. So the standard he set as a working pro is the standard every student gets — whether they’re booking him or one of our other teachers.

Camas Parents & Students Say It Best

★★★★★

“We’ve been with Chris for almost three years. My daughter plays piano, ukulele, and guitar now — and Chris somehow brings out her talent and her confidence at the same time. The recitals are great. I have zero complaints.”

“My daughter has only been going to Perfect Harmony for a month but so far she is loving it. She is taking guitar and bass from Chris and leaves excited for what she has learned that night. This has also spilled over to other areas like the drums and she is practicing them on her own every day as well. Her love for music is growing by the day!”

“My daughter has improved so much as a singer since starting at Perfect Harmony 8 months ago. Her confidence is soaring, and I’m so glad for her to feel good about her singing as she moves into high school. She will have so many opportunities to use this skill!”

FAQ

Common Questions

How much do lessons cost?
Private lessons start at competitive Clark County rates and include our Tuition Price-Match Guarantee. Full pricing is on our tuition page.
What age do you start teaching?
Our Mini-Mozart Music Makers program starts at age 4. Private piano lessons typically start at age 8 (after Mini-Mozart graduation); other instruments vary by readiness — we'll assess fit during your free trial.
Do you offer lessons on Zoom or only in-person?
Both. Our studio is in Camas at 2459 NE 3rd Loop, and we teach online via Zoom for families who need more flexibility.
Do I need to own an instrument before my first lesson?
No — we'll help you figure out what to buy (or rent) after the free trial. We also repair instruments, so a used guitar from a garage sale is totally fine to start.
What makes you different from School of Rock?
Three things: we teach a wide range of instruments (including voice), you get owner-operator attention instead of a franchise, and our tuition is price-matched to the local market — not set by a national corporate office.
